About us
About Hazel & Rye Bakehouse
Hazel & Rye Bakehouse is a neighborhood bakery and coffee bar built around one idea: bake it fresh, keep it simple, and know the names of the people who walk through the door.
Our story
This template stands in for a locally run neighborhood bakery — the kind with a line out the door on Saturday morning and a regular who orders "the usual" before they even reach the counter.
A shop like this typically opens early, bakes in small batches through the morning, and closes once the case runs low — which some days is earlier than the hours posted on the door.
Replace this section with the real founding story, team background, and baking philosophy once a customer is on board — see docs/CUSTOMER-SETUP.md.
How we work
What guides the bakery
Baked fresh, every morning
Nothing sits overnight in the case. What doesn’t sell by close doesn’t reopen the next day as "yesterday's."
Ingredients we can explain
Simple recipes, sourced from suppliers we actually know, so we can answer questions about what’s in your bread.
A place to slow down
Counter seating, a window to watch the street, and no rush to turn the table — stop in for five minutes or fifty.
Where we are
Proudly part of the Woodlawn neighborhood, Portland, OR
You’ll find us on NE Emerson Street in Woodlawn, an easy walk from the surrounding streets and a short drive from anywhere in Northeast or North Portland. Street parking is usually easy to find outside of Saturday morning rush.
